Where to go Camping During Christmas Time!
The Christmas time bucket list worthy campground that every kid needs to experience is without a doubt Stone Mountain Campground!

Do yourself a favor and book this bad boy a year in advance for a December trip. It’s worth it. Thank me later! 🙂
Stone Mountain Park is 23,000 acres packed with history lessons and loads of fun for families! There’s a very large campground as well as a Marriott, so you can bring your friends and family that don’t have a camper 😉 The campground itself is so beautiful. It is all paved, so we spent most of our time skateboarding and biking around the grounds!
But you still have to leave your camper to enjoy all that the park has to offer! There’s a wide variety of attractions that everyone would love! There’s golf, mini golf, a super cool dinosaur attraction, train rides, hiking trails, and so much more! There’s plenty of dining options on site and shops all around.
The BEST part about Stone Mountain Park is their Christmas time events! The park is transformed into a winter wonderland! We walked into the park feeling like we were at the North Pole. There was fake snow, a Christmas light show, a polar express train ride, an elf show, music & magic shows, and so much more! Best of all… Santa flies all the way from the North Pole, so that he can meet all the kids at Stone Mountain Park! It’s a pretty good chance to tell him what you want under the tree, am I right? 😉
It’s hard to want to leave the park, but you’re only a 30 minute drive from downtown Atlanta! There‘s a wide variety of sites to see and activities to check out! There’s the Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and the stunning Piedmont Park! Staying at Stone Mountain gives you the opportunity to check off a lot of Atlanta bucket list items while you’re staying!
We had a blast during our stay at Stone Mountain Campground & we hope you do, too! Tell Santa we sent you! 😉
Tips:
-Book this in advance! Christmas time books out about a year in advance. In order to get the best site & the best times for ticketed events, definitely book the earliest you can.
-I highly recommend no less than a four day stay. There’s so much to do in the park and in Atlanta. You won’t want to miss anything. I think between 5-7 days is a great amount of time!
-Pack Christmas jammies! There’s nothing more fun than riding a polar express train ride in Christmas jammies!
