Our FAVORITE Campground in the North Carolina Mountains!
Happy Holiday Campground in Cherokee, NC is like camping in a postcard! The campground wraps around a duck filled pond that mirrors the stunning Mountain View in its reflection. A bubbling river circles the campground, giving campers the most peaceful background noise that you just can’t buy on an app. Seriously, this campground is majestic and the ultimate serene getaway. This campground gets my vote for most beautiful campground.

The campground has many riverfront and pond front sites along with cabin rentals. We stayed on a riverfront site, hung a hammock in the trees next to the water, and the kids tubed down the river all day. Across our site was the gorgeous pond and Mountain View. We sat by the pond and fed the ducks for hours everyday. The kids drove their scooters around the paved road that winds around the pond with all of the other kids. If you want to experience the great outdoors in the mountains at a campground full of families with kids and fur babies, this is the best campground for just that. Unplug & Enjoy. You’ll also 100% fall asleep in your hammock while listening to the river. We certainly did! 🙂
Happy Holiday is right down the road from downtown Cherokee. There is a wide variety of must do’s in Cherokee! There are so many cute shops, yummy restaurants, gem mining shops and pretty parks. There’s also the huge Harrah’s Casino! If you can get some grownup time without the kiddos, the casino is the place to go!
Close by there’s also loads of hiking trails! The hiking trails range from easy to moderate and some even have some wild waterfall views!
There’s also many different places to go trout fishing in the area! We went to Cooper Creek Trout Farm and caught tons of fish that we threw on the grill for dinner that night! It was a blast for the kids.
We had an amazing time during our stay at Happy Holiday Campground & we hope you do, too! The staff and other campers felt like family & we can’t wait to go back!
Pssst. Let us know when you’re going, because we need an excuse to go back! 😉
Happy Camping!

Tips:
-Obviously, I’m going to tell you to bring your hammock. Relaxing and reading by the river in a hammock was definitely a highlight!
-We stayed during the pandemic, so there were a few things that we missed. We heard that there are Native American shows & music downtown. We are so sad we missed it, but definitely wanted to let others know to check that out as well once the pandemic is over!
-You’re not going to want to leave. Definitely book this bad boy for at least a week! I also recommend booking in advance to be sure you get a riverfront site!
