Fossil Hunting, Rope Swinging into the River, and ATV Riding all at one Epic Campground in Florida!
Peace River Campground in Arcadia, Florida will give you the ride of your life! Literally.

The campground located in Arcadia, Florida is absolutely massive and full of endless trails that wrap around the Peace River. Bring your atv’s and dirt bikes & you’ll spend all day exploring the 160 acres of natural Florida! We spent most of our time riding in the sand dunes and the mud of course! But the coolest part was when we found the ruins of the Chautauqua Theatre! Though they aren’t actually “ancient ruins”, the kids certainly felt like they were in the presence of some ancient magic. We learned about what the structure actually was, but still pretended we found treasure, because who wouldn’t? (A fun homeschool lesson, am I right?)
A major highlight is the Peace River itself. Logan spent hours upon hours sifting through the sands of the river hunting for fossils. The river is loaded with all kinds of prehistoric gems and you don’t need to be lucky to find them. Logan found lots of fossilized shark teeth and (we think) a fossilized mastodon tooth! Another homeschool win if I do say so myself!
And there’s a rope swing. Need I say more?
Peace River was an absolute blast & we hope you enjoy your time there, too!
Happy Camping!

Tips:
-There’s bugs sometimes! Definitely pack bug spray and bring an industrial fan to blow them away from your food while you eat on your picnic tables.
-The staff is so friendly & helpful! Logan asked so many fossil questions & they were always ready to answer the best they could. If you have a question, don’t hesitate to ask them! They’re so nice!
-Bring a sifter and a good shovel if you want to go fossil hunting! They come in handy.
